The development objective is to create a dry composition for field preparation of the povidone-iodine antiseptic solution. The work relevance lies in the fact that most disinfectants for the wound treatment have drawbacks that complicate their use in the combat and extreme situations. The paper proposes an approach to solving this problem by developing a dry composition for rapid independent preparation of the povidone-iodine antiseptic solution using water, including water from the local natural sources. It analyzes the existing methods for obtaining the povidone-iodine complex, as well as the methods for quality control of the resulting solutions based on it. Formation of the povidone-iodine complex aqueous solution was experimentally studied, and a dry composition for its rapid preparation based on citric acid, sodium percarbonate, potassium iodide and polyvinylpyrrolidone (povidone) was developed. The developed composition was stable in the dry form. Aqueous solutions obtained from this composition met the requirements for ready-made povidone-iodine solutions produced by the pharmaceutical industry.
