The article focuses on philosophical reflection on the role of information in modern society. We analyzed different approaches to defining the concept of information and described the basic sciences, studying information in different ways. Separately we addressed the issue of protection of information, its storage and transmission methods as well as the problem of the role of information in everyday life.
