The article focuses on the analysis of inequality phenomenon in the history of human society. We study the development of ideas of inequality, given in concepts by philosophers and thinkers of different historical eras. As a result, we classify inequality, compare the effects of this phenomenon on the development of society and emphasize both positive and negative roles of inequality.
