Formation of homo ecologus as a way to prevent extinction of the human species

The study deals with possible consequences of the interaction between the modern society and the biosphere. It touches upon several aspects of how the mindset of today is incompatible with the survival needs of humanity in times of an ecological crisis, and in particular, upon global warming of the last 50 years as the most dangerous factor of this crisis. We also discuss such topics as deglaciation, slash and burn culture, overpopulation, extinction of biological species, redistribution of precipitation amounts, new types of diseases appearing and so on. We consider the fact that humanity appears incapable of restraining its permanently growing demands for material wealth and non-renewable resources to be a threat to the well-being of future generations and the planet on the whole; this is why the article states that it is necessary to alter the mindset of the modern society and to create a model of a socially responsible human being.
