The paper contains a brief description of methodology for calculating the elements of frequency-selective surfaces (FSS) by the method of equivalent electrical circuits (EEC), implemented in the MATLAB software package. The technique gives results acceptable for engineering calculations for simple FSS elements, which can be refined by experimental testing. The technique is implemented on a regular laptop with the MATLAB software package and practically does not require computer time. To use the widely advertised software packages FEKO, HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, etc., it is necessary to have specialized computing equipment and large expenditures of computer time, but the results are more accurate, which avoids additional experimental testing. It is possible to reduce the cost of computer time for software package calculations when using the results of calculating the electrical characteristics of the FSS using the proposed method as the initial conditions.
