The problem of losing a limb is nowadays a pressing medical and social issue in the Russian Federation. Losing a limb leads to the impaired human motor activity and, as a consequence, to the loss of ability to work. Moreover, sanctions and unstable financial situation in the domestic healthcare system are making it extremely difficult to purchase such prostheses and their components in large numbers. Besides, individual rehabilitation programs for the disabled people are provided under the quota system. This paper presents a study devoted to development of a geometric model of the hand anthropomorphic prosthesis. Based on the anonymized MRI data obtained, the prosthesis geometric model was developed providing optimal ergonomics and functionality. The technique includes introduction of modern scanning and data processing technologies to achieve the model high accuracy. The results obtained have every potential to significantly improve the quality of life of people with hand amputation by providing them with more comfortable and natural motion. This technique could also be adapted for introduction in other areas of the limb prosthetics.
