This work is devoted to investigating the hydroabrasive tract operation when working under the water. We have developed a physico-mathematical model of generation process and subsequent hydroabrasive jet motion into the surrounding water space under pressure with allowance for fluid cavitation. The authors present the results of the parametric study of the high velocity jet formation nature depending on the jet-forming tract design parameters obtained through the use of software package ANSYS/AUTODYN. It has been established that by means of changing the geometrical shape of the jet nozzle it is possible to reduce the consumption of working substance significantly and increase the effective length of the jet moving in the water. It is shown that the back pressure of the surrounding medium suppresses the cavitation process in the jet, which makes the jet more stable.
