The paper presents results of analyzing machine translation of the highly specialized scientific and technical texts. It considers the concept of translation error and describes its types. Results of machine translation of the highly specialized texts in aviation and astronautics are being analyzed. Errors made by the machine translator are highlighted. Errors are identified using a reference translation by a professional translator. The study results in classifying the types of errors made in machine translation. The paper notes that semantic, stylistic and translation errors are most often encountered in translating the highly specialized texts by the machine technique.
