This article presents the development of a system for detecting and classifying power transmission line (PTL) faults using multifunctional sensors, including an RGB camera, thermal imager, and passive radar, integrated into a mechatronic module. The article analyzes existing PTL monitoring systems and identifies their limitations. A new approach is proposed, involving the creation of a mechatronic module for automatic fault recognition in PTLs and the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a high payload capacity equipped with various sensors. The methodology for designing the mechatronic module structure is described. Methods of fault detection are presented, as well as requirements for the control system.
